Zeekr X Home Charging in Malaysia: Which Charger You Actually Need
Short answer: a 7kW wallbox is the right charger for a Zeekr X in almost every Malaysian home. The Premium RWD accepts up to 11kW AC and the Flagship AWD up to 22kW, but both figures need a three-phase supply, and most Malaysian houses are single-phase — which caps you at about 7.4kW. At that rate the 66kWh battery goes from empty to full in roughly 9 hours, comfortably overnight. Only pay for 22kW if you already have three phases, or you own the Flagship and genuinely need a 4-hour refill.
Zeekr X: the two variants, and what each can accept
Both 2026 Malaysian variants carry the same 66kWh battery. What differs is the onboard AC charger — and that, not the battery, is what decides which wallbox to buy.
Zeekr X Premium RWD | Zeekr X Flagship AWD | |
Battery | 66 kWh | 66 kWh |
Range (WLTP) | 445 km | 415 km |
Maximum AC charging | 11 kW | 22 kW |
Zeekr's quoted AC full charge | 7.5 hours | 4 hours |
Maximum DC charging | 150 kW | 150 kW |
DC 10 to 80 percent | 30 minutes | 30 minutes |
Figures as published at the 2026 Malaysian launch. The AC times are Zeekr's own, measured at the car's full AC rate — which is the part most buyers never actually get at home.
The part that catches people out: single-phase versus three-phase
An 11kW or 22kW AC charge rate is only reachable on a three-phase supply. A single-phase Malaysian home — which is most terrace, semi-D and link houses — tops out around 7.4kW no matter which wallbox you bolt to the wall. Buying a 22kW unit for a single-phase house does not make the car charge faster; it charges at 7.4kW either way.
Before you decide, read do you need three-phase power for an EV charger in Malaysia and single-phase or three-phase: which Malaysian EVs actually need the upgrade. The same question decides the answer for its bigger sibling, the Zeekr 7X.
Real charge times for a 66kWh Zeekr X
Your supply | Charger | Power the car actually gets | Empty to full |
Single-phase (most Malaysian homes) | 7kW wallbox | about 7.4 kW | about 9 hours |
Three-phase, 16A | 11kW wallbox | 11 kW | 7.5 hours (Zeekr's figure) |
Three-phase, 32A | 22kW wallbox | 22 kW on the Flagship, 11 kW on the Premium | 4 hours (Flagship, Zeekr's figure) |
Ordinary 13A wall socket | Portable charger | about 2.2 kW | about 30 hours |
Public DC charger | CCS2 | up to 150 kW | 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes |
The single-phase row is arithmetic on the battery size; the 11kW and 22kW rows are Zeekr's published times, which already allow for charging losses. Check your own numbers with the EV charging time calculator, and the ringgit cost with our home charging cost breakdown.
Note the honest implication of row three: on a 22kW charger the Premium RWD still only draws 11kW. The car's onboard charger is the ceiling, not the wallbox.
Which charger to buy
The Guru Swift Advance 7kW / 22kW covers both cases from one unit: run it at 7kW on a single-phase supply, or at 22kW if you have three phases. The unit is RM2,300 for the 7kW and RM2,500 for the 22kW. Browse the full home wallbox range.
Single-phase house, either variant: 7kW. About 9 hours for a full charge, and you will almost never arrive home empty.
Three-phase house, Premium RWD: 11kW is the car's limit, so a 22kW unit buys you nothing today — though it does future-proof the next car.
Three-phase house, Flagship AWD: 22kW, and you get the full 4-hour charge the car is capable of.
Condo or rented, no wallbox allowed: a portable charger on a sound 13A socket, as a stopgap.
Malaysia uses Type 2 for AC and CCS2 for DC, the same standard as Europe and the UK — see Malaysia EV charging connector types explained.
What the installation needs
A Zeekr X wallbox is not a plug-in appliance. It needs its own circuit from the distribution board, correctly sized cable, an isolator and the right RCD type. Our home EV charger wiring requirements guide sets out exactly what a licensed installer must provide, and do you need TNB approval covers the paperwork. Installation cost depends on your cable run and board, so ask us for a figure rather than trusting a number off a web page.
Waiting on approval or renting? A 13A portable charger (RM990) will keep the car going in the meantime — see what a 3-pin 13A socket can and cannot do.
FAQ
What size home charger does a Zeekr X need in Malaysia?
A 7kW wallbox for a single-phase home, which is most Malaysian houses. Choose 22kW only if you have a three-phase supply, and it only pays off on the Flagship AWD.
How long does a Zeekr X take to charge at home?
About 9 hours from empty on a 7kW single-phase wallbox. Zeekr quotes 7.5 hours at 11kW and 4 hours at 22kW, both of which need three-phase power.
Can I charge a Zeekr X with a 22kW charger?
Yes, and the Flagship AWD will use all 22kW on a three-phase supply. The Premium RWD accepts a maximum of 11kW, so it charges no faster on a 22kW unit than on an 11kW one.
Does the Zeekr X need three-phase power at home?
No. It charges perfectly well at about 7.4kW on a normal single-phase supply. Three-phase is what unlocks the car's 11kW or 22kW AC rate, which is a convenience rather than a requirement.
What connector does the Zeekr X use in Malaysia?
Type 2 for AC charging and CCS2 for DC fast charging, the standard across the Malaysian market.
Can I charge a Zeekr X from a normal three-pin socket?
Yes, through a portable charger, at roughly 2.2kW — around 30 hours for a full 66kWh charge. It is a stopgap, not a daily solution.
