BEFORE YOU START
Four things to decide for a mall or hotel
Who can charge
Guests, tenants and staff only, or the public too. Public access needs an EVCS licence.
AC, DC or both
Depends on how long drivers stay. A practical starting ratio is 1 charger per 30 to 50 parking bays.
Rates and access
Standard rate for visitors, a discounted rate for tenants or staff, or free charging for guests.
Power
Load management lets chargers share the supply. A power assessment at the site visit shows if an upgrade is needed.
PROJECTS
Malls, hotels and residences we've equipped
Hartamas Shopping Centre and Four Seasons Residence run on a profit-share model; Seri Pacific Hotel bought its chargers outright. Drivers and guests pay per use.

Hotel EV charging, 22kW

Four Seasons Residence, KLCC
Residential EV charging, 2 x 22kW

Ways to pay
Buy the chargers outright, or choose a zero-upfront-cost or profit-share model where it fits the site.
Licences
Public-access chargers need an EVCS licence. EvGuru handles it, and TNB approvals where needed.
Small AC projects
3 to 5 chargers: usually 2 to 3 weeks.
DC or upgrades
4 to 8 weeks, including the ST licence and TNB approvals.
FAQ
Mall and hotel EV charging questions
How many chargers does a mall or hotel need?
A practical starting ratio is 1 charger per 30 to 50 parking bays; the site assessment sets the right number and AC/DC mix.
1
Do our chargers need an EVCS licence?
Yes, if they are public-access or used commercially, whether or not you charge drivers. EvGuru handles the application.
2
Can we charge drivers, or offer it free to guests?
Both. You set the rate in the CMS, give tenants or staff a different rate, or make it complimentary for guests.
3
Can we install without rewiring the building?
Often yes, using load management. DC fast chargers or many high-power AC chargers may need an electrical upgrade, which the power assessment identifies.
4
Do we have to pay for the chargers upfront?
No. Zero-upfront-cost and profit-share models are available where they fit the site, as well as outright purchase.
5
Who maintains the chargers?
EvGuru offers maintenance with cloud fault monitoring, remote diagnostics and on-site support.

CHARGER MIX
Chargers matched to how long drivers stay
Shopping malls and hotels need different set-ups. EvGuru recommends the mix of AC and DC chargers, rates and access for your site.
Shopping malls
Short visits suit DC fast chargers (30kW to 240kW) for quick top-ups, alongside AC chargers (7kW to 22kW) for shoppers and staff who stay longer. Set a public kWh rate and see revenue and usage in the EvGuru charging management system (CMS). Give tenants and staff a different rate through RFID cards or the app. Public-access chargers need an EVCS licence from Suruhanjaya Tenaga; EvGuru handles the application.
Hotels
Guests park for hours or overnight, so AC chargers (7kW to 22kW) usually fit. Add DC where there's short-stay or public traffic. Offer complimentary charging to guests, or set a rate. Control who can charge with RFID cards or app login. Branded chargers, wayfinding signage and floor markings are available.
