Power Delivery.

You want your EV charger to deliver at least 32 Amps (approximately 7.7 kW for single-phase and 22 kW for 3 phases) to your vehicle. We recommend this capacity. Even if the EV you have now can't receive that much power, the battery size and the charging capacity of the new EVs improve rapidly, thanks to the technology. Prepare now for the future so that you don't have to get a new charger in the future.

Socket Type or Hardwired.

EV chargers come in Socket Type or hardwired Plug Type options. The socket type has no charging cable attached, and you could easily plug in a Type 2, Type 1 or another plug type (most EV versions in Malaysia are Type 2, the US version is Type 1. Tesla also has its own charging Plug type). You can also easily replace the charging cable if there is any problem.

The Plug Type has a charging cable permanently attached to it. If you need to use a different charging plug type, you will need a charging plug adapter.

Cable length.

Electric vehicle chargers have cables as short as 12 feet and as long as 25 feet. Choose a charging cable to reach your car's charging port from wherever you park. Get a cable that is at least 20 feet long.

Smart or Dumb.

Smart EV chargers come with mobile apps that allow owners to review charging sessions, monitor live charging, start/stop charging sessions, schedule charging, remote control, etc. Dumb chargers only know about charging your EV, which is what most EV owners need only. The dumb charger will stop when the battery is full.

If you are planning to install an EV charger in your home, don't worry about the voltage amperage because almost all Malaysian homes can withstand 32A, and many can even withstand up to 60A voltage. As long as you use our service, we will handpick the right one for your home after examining your home power conditions.

Also, note that if you are using a portable EV charger, the outlets in Malaysia are 13A, so you MUST only get a 13A portable EV charger.

How can users tell if they are currently using single-phase or three-phase?

Method 1: It's usually stated on the power company's meter. For example, the box on the right has the words "3-phase-4-wire" and "380V, 3x220V" written, indicating a three-phase power. The meter on the left shows "220V", which reflects a single-phase meter.

Method 2: Check directly with the electricity company (TNB)

Method 3: Look at the switch. The left picture has one switch (single pole switch), while the right has three switches (3-pole-switch).

Installation

Our basic installation cost is RM1599, including materials, 15 meters of cable and labour costs. Most house conditions fall into this category.

Basic Installation Plan includes:

1. To supply & install the EV Junction Box in the electrical room inclusive of：

a. Metal enclosure

b. 3P MCB 40A

c. 3P RCCB 40A

d. Cable termination at main DB

2. To supply & install the cabling from EV Junction Box (electrical room) to the EV charger (parking bay or car porch) inclusive of：

a. 5 x 1C 6mm2 PVC cables (R/Y/B/N/E)

b. PVC surface conduit

3. To install 7 or 22 kW EV charger & cabling termination

If the actual installation cost exceeds the basic installation plan (e.g., phase upgrade, voltage change, high job complexity, long distance between the parking lot and the electric panel), we may charge additional fees.

Most customers do not need any upgrades to their power supply before installing an EV charger.

The extra work is dependent on your specific situation. If you have electricity ready at the venue, it’s relatively easy and won’t cost you too much. The items will be listed in the quotation. Some of the factors that will determine how much additional work is required include:

Does your parking space have an adequate electricity supply?
Are the existing cables and system ready to use?
The type of charging station?
Does your parking space have a single-phase or three-phase electrical supply?
What is the distance between your parking space and the electrical system?
What is the distance between the charging station and the fuse box?
Is it necessary to install a separate electric meter?
Does it need to go through a wall?
