Installation covers SIRIM-certified materials, up to 15 metres of cabling and labour. 22kW needs a three-phase supply, and most Malaysian homes are single-phase — send us a photo of your DB board and we will tell you which one you have.

What every installation already includes

These are the things a cheaper quote tends to leave out and add back later.

  • SIRIM-certified protection — Type A RCCB, MCB, isolator and conduit
  • Up to 15 metres of certified 6mm² cabling with mounted PVC conduit
  • Distribution box supplied and fitted
  • ST-licensed installation, testing and commissioning
  • Two-year warranty on the charger and the cabling, parts and labour

What changes the price

The figures above are the price, not a starting bid. Four things can move them, and we agree every one of them with you in writing before work starts.

Cable run over 15 metres
Measured from your DB board to where the charger goes. Longer runs need more cable and trunking.

Hacking and concealing
Chasing cable into a wall or under a driveway is civil work and sits outside the package.

Board or phase upgrade
If your consumer unit is near capacity, or you are moving from single- to three-phase for a faster charger.

Distance
Sites outside Klang Valley, Johor and Penang may carry a travel charge.

Why we are not the cheapest

A bargain install hits a lower number by skipping SIRIM-certified protection or running thinner cable. That circuit then carries load for hours every night. It can fail inspection, void your insurance, or start a fire. Every EvGuru job uses SIRIM-certified materials and ST-licensed installers working under electrical-engineer oversight, and both the charger and the cabling carry a two-year warranty. What you are paying for is an installation that is safe to leave running while you sleep.

7.2kW or 22kW?

7.2kW suits most Malaysian homes. It runs on an ordinary single-phase supply, adds roughly 35–45 km of range an hour, and fills almost any EV overnight. No supply upgrade needed.

22kW needs three-phase, which most homes do not have. It earns its place if you already have three-phase, if you drive high daily mileage or have a large battery, or if two EVs share one charger. Your car also has to accept 22kW AC — many do not, and will draw less whatever charger you fit.

What it costs to charge at home

Home charging is the single biggest saving in EV ownership. Public DC fast charging runs around RM1.10 to RM1.80 per kWh. Charging at home on a residential tariff, particularly off-peak, costs a fraction of that for a full overnight charge.

Tax relief. You may be able to claim up to RM2,500 in personal income tax relief for a home EV charging facility. Eligibility and the claimable amount change from year to year, so check the current year’s rules before you file.

Common questions

How much does it cost to install an EV charger at home in Malaysia?

RM1,690 single-phase or RM1,750 three-phase to fit a charger you already own, covering SIRIM-certified materials, up to 15 metres of cabling and licensed labour. Buying an EvGuru charger with the installation brings it to RM3,590 (7.2kW) or RM3,990 (22kW), which is cheaper than paying for each separately. Sites needing a phase upgrade, a board upgrade or extra cabling are quoted after assessment.

Can I supply my own charger?

Yes. That is the RM1,690 or RM1,750 installation-only price. Send us the make and model and we will confirm it is suitable before we book a date.

What can push the cost above the package price?

Most often a cable run longer than 15 metres, hacking and concealing work, a consumer-unit upgrade if your board is near capacity, a single- to three-phase upgrade, or distance from our service base. All of it is confirmed with you before work starts.

Do I need a site visit before you can quote?

No. Send photos and a short video of your DB board and the spot where the charger goes, and we quote from those at no cost.

Will the charger work with my Tesla, BYD or Hyundai?

Yes. Our chargers use the Type 2 connector that virtually every EV sold in Malaysia uses, including Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, BYD and Hyundai. Tell us your model and we will confirm the right unit and cable length.

How long does the installation take?

Most home installations are finished in about two and a half hours in one visit. Jobs needing a phase or board upgrade take longer, and we tell you that upfront after the assessment.

Do you install in condos and apartments?

Yes, though it works differently: JMB approval is needed and the cable route from the DB board is usually longer. Ask us and we will walk you through what your building will want to see.

Is there tax relief for a home charger?

Malaysia has offered personal income tax relief of up to RM2,500 for the purchase and installation of EV charging facilities. The rules change year to year, so confirm the current year’s eligibility before filing. Businesses installing at commercial premises should look at the Green Investment Tax Allowance instead.

SIRIM-certified materials and ST-licensed installers. Over 2,000 Malaysian homes since 2021. Two-year warranty on the charger and the cabling.
